Part of just 1000 pieces, this time-only 6007A/001 Calatrava was introduced in 2019 in celebration of Patek Philippe's new manufacture, which opened in the same year. Building on the design principles introduced with the 5212A Weekly Calendar, the dial features an unusual, metallic blueish-grey hue, modern proportions, and font. Powered by the classic in-house calibre 324 SC, the watch retains its traditional roots even as it looks toward the future. More unusually, this is one of the few examples sold through Tiffany & Co, including corresponding paperwork along with the retailer's iconic bright light blue outer box.

This 6007A/001 Calatrava was introduced in 2019, in celebration of Patek Philippe's new manufacture, which opened in the same year. The creation of such a manufacture was intended to centralise all production, as opposed to the scattered locations of the workshops Patek Philippe had acquired over the years. Part of just 1000 pieces, this time-only 6007A/001 marked a new era for the Calatrava series, thanks to its modern design.

The Calatrava was the first model released after the manufacture was bought over by Charles and Henri Stern, with the intention of breathing new life into the brand. Looking back, this original design is considered by many as the ultimate blueprint for a time-only dress watch. A more updated look to the Calatrava series, this reference 6007A/001 bears a striking similarity to the 5212A Weekly Calendar, released just a year before. In particular, they share a comparable steel case, and the dial layout is closely aligned, removing the month and week chapter rings with a seconds and inner hour scale respectively. At 40mm in diameter, this further attests to the watch's alignment with modern proportions and preferences.

The dial is an unusual metallic, blueish-grey hue reminiscent of an iceberg with indications and hands in white. The applied Arabic numerals are styled in a modern font, and filled with Super Luminova, giving excellent legibility even in darkened conditions. The centre of the dial features a a carbon motif guilloché in a chequerboard pattern, giving texture and depth to the smooth dial. This pattern would later go on to inspire the reference 5935A World Time Flyback Chronograph, which makes use of the same motif. A date aperture sits in place of the 3 o'clock indication, bearing a similarly modern font.

This Calatrava 6007A/001 is powered by Patek Philippe’s in-house caliber 324 SC, which is more commonly found in watches from the Nautilus series. A classic touch despite the watch's modernity, the movement is visible through the sapphire crystal display-back, encircled by an angled decagon which contrasts with the otherwise smooth and polished angles of the case. The calibre is composed of a 21k gold rotor due to the heavier properties of gold, allowing a more efficient self-winding system. Furthermore, the movement has a four-arm Gyromax balance beating at 28,800 oscillations per hour. On the sapphire glass itself is printed the words "New Manufacture", the Patek Philippe logo, and "2019", cementing the watch's connection with an important moment in the manufacture's history.

Condition

This Patek Philippe Calatrava 6007A/001 is in excellent condition throughout. The case and lugs show virtually no signs of wear overall, only a minor light mark on the side of the lower right lug. The dial, hands, and movement are free from any signs of imperfections.

Originally purchased from Tiffany & Co. the set comes complete with its Tiffany blue outer box, sticker denoting the reference and case number, Certificate of Origin and Certificate of Limited Edition, and unused Patek Philippe strap with tag denoting the individual case and reference number.
